Audience Feedback

After our first public viewing of our trailer's first draft we were provided with feedback from all our viewers.
Overall our feedback was generally very positive, scoring up to 9/10 by some people, however there were a few improvements suggested. Here are some examples:
  • use copy-right free music (which we had already planned to do but was unable to do so before the viewing)
  • fill in the missing shots which haven't been filmed yet
  • introduce a larger range of girls in the 'strangling shot'
  • fix some of the transitions of the newspaper reviews to make them more smooth

Final Logo

In order to create the sophisticated but relatable look for our production company, we needed to create a unique logo which would be present in all our media produce.

We used this simple black and white look in order to keep it simple but rememberable, we also felt that use bright colour for the london landscape would firstly draw attention away from our company name but would also be unrelated to our genre which is more dark/serious.

The Background Choice on Our Title

First Draft of Strangling Edits

One of our main shots throughout our whole trailer is our strangling scene which involves James strangling various girls in various locations. This will be use to indicate that he has been abusive in the past.

In order to make this idea fit within our time limit we have edited the pace of the footage so a large quantity can be shown in a small amount of time. We have also made it a non-linear sequence by cutting within the footage of each girl and alternating it with the others, creating a disorientating but effective shot.
Here is our first attempt - but only featuring a small amount of actresses...

Underwater Footage

To create an ending which would leave our viewers intrigued, we have decided to include an underwater shot of our female character being drowned in a bath.
This particular shot was created using an underwater cover for my iPhone 5, which meant we could place the phone under the water and film footage below the surface.

It took a couple of takes due to having to place the phone in the right place/angle and also to get the timing right before Bee had to come up out of the water. We also used a signal which she had to show when she wanted to be released in order to keep this scene safe and risk free.

This is our final outcome...

Comparison of past and present actors

We have found that due to our change in actors we were able to create more beneficial performances which are shown in the following shots:

Actress Comparisons:

In our second version of this scene we found that our actress gave a more powerful performance, and we used the technique of James actually trying to get in through the door in order to make Bee's reactions more lifelike. We also found that we had more of an idea as to what kind of expression we wanted our actress to convey during this filming session which again effected our overall product greatly.

Actor Comparisons:

Our second (and current) actor James was able to provide us with a wider range of actions, positions and emotions within just a few shots compared to our restrictions during the first attempt. We also  found that using an outside location was more effective as it gave us more natural lighting and would help the audience feel involved as it was filmed just in front of some bushes. Therefore the audience would be able to visualise this being wherever they wanted.

Initial website ideas

We have created our website using the website creator 'Wix' which provided us with the tools to create our finished piece.

This is the template we have decided to use:

We decided to use this particular template as it was simplistic and professional which would avoid our audience from being distracted from the features. We also like the interactive features of the pages to encourage our visitors to click on them.

New Music

Due to copyright issues we have had to change our background music. We found our new piece from the app soundcloud:
We have also decided to change the tempo of the music in order to make our viewers sympathise with the female victim more and also focus on the storyline, rather than the well known song by Bastille.
