In order to help us create a successful and realistic website we have analysed a couple of websites in order to discover common features amongst their home pages:

New actors

We have decided to change our actors due to difficult creating the shots we were hoping for. These are our new actor and actress - James Allen and Bee Williamson.

We also believe that these two people fit our visualised characteristics better compared to our previous choices which would also help us create our desired product.

Editing Process

During our the editing stage of our task we used the apple app iMovie, to help us achieve the best trailer possible.

Within this app we are able to use tools such as a clip trimmer in order to create precise cuts and transitions in between our shots.

It is also helpful as it gives us easy access to music and sound effects which we saved into iTunes.

It gave us tools which mean that we could easily and accurately decide which bits of footage were required in our trailer.

Test Shots

In order to make our trailer as realistic as possible, we needed to have an actress who was able to persuade the audience into believing she is the character we want to depict. This type of error could be prevented by doing a test shot. We chose one of our hardest scenes - where she slams a door and falls to the floor crying, in order to see whether she was able to perform it properly.

Social Realism Moodboard

In order to help us create the right sort of image and 'feel' for our trailer we decided to create a moodboard for social realism:

Iconic social realism production companies

Due to our change in genre we felt it was necessary to do some research on a number of social realist production companies:

Our Use of Social Networks

In order to keep our audience updated with latest events and changes during our construction, we have created social media account for Skyline Studios:

This will also hopefully increase our interest as people begin to discover our pages through our current followers.

First Filming Session

Today we had our first filming session at my house. Here we filmed some of the first scenes where the couple are in the bedroom and we try to establish an 'equilibrium' in the boy's life. We also filmed a number of our strangling shots as well as others:

What do u think of when you think 'Horror'?

In order to make our trailer interesting and appealing to our audience we needed to understand exactly what they felt was necessary in a product of the horror genre:

Potential Titles

We have currently still deciding what our title of our trailer will be, and these are our favourites:

  • Listen
  • Broken
  • Obsession
  • Infatuation

We will be conducting a questionnaire in order to find the most popular title choice from those who are within our audience age range.

Potential Music

We are currently unsure as to which song we are going to use for our trailer. Here is some music which has caused great influence into our kind of song:

Whispering by Alex Clare (The Boy Next Door Trailer):
We particularly liked the powerful tune which builds up behind the lyrics which would creates tension in the trailer. Another beneficial factor is the pulsating beat which reoccurs throughout the song, this kind of beat could be used in time with the pictures changing during our opening - causing them to become a more prominent feature.

Crazy in love by Beyonce (Fifty Shades of Grey Trailer):
The tempo of this song was especially appealing to us, as we found that this would create suspense as the story develops - this would be a key feature to look for in our song. We also found that this song had a similar backing track also climaxed as the song continue which is also something we believe will be beneficial.

Broken by Leona Lewis:
This powerful solo piece we believe is very similar to the beyoncĂ© song we previously found especially related to this vocals - climaxes and the style/sound itself. This particular song was also so influential that we were considering a cover of this (because of copyright issues) - especially as the lyrics such as 'i wanna run away from love, this time i've had enough' which could be seen as corresponding to this abnormal and unhealthy relationship.

Scripting

Due to our scenes being muted throughout our trailer, we don't need to provide any prior scripting for our actors.

This was our decision as we felt having our actors speaking could cause our trailer to look 'staged' as we wouldn't be able to find anyone who has the same acting skills as those seen in trailers on television. We also believe that having silent characters would help create mystery and suspense as  our audience will be unable to figure out their discussions or the contexts of our shots.
